Pack Sizes & Coverage
Each batten is available in 1m or 2m lengths, supplied in packs of 3, 4 or 5 battens. Choose the pack size that suits your room — or mix and match to minimise waste.
Installation Guide
- Measure your ceiling and plan your batten spacing (typically 50–150mm gaps between battens for a classic linear look).
- Mark guide lines on the ceiling with a chalk line or pencil.
- Apply solvent-free grab adhesive to the back of each batten in a zigzag pattern.
- Press firmly to the ceiling and hold for 30 seconds.
- Allow 24 hours to cure, then paint with any water-based emulsion.
Important: Use solvent-free adhesive only — solvent-based products will dissolve XPS. Paint with water-based emulsion only.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use these on walls as well as ceilings?
Yes. WOLDECOR battens work equally well as wall feature panels. Use the same solvent-free adhesive method on clean, dry walls.
What gap should I leave between battens?
This is entirely your choice. Gaps of 50–100mm give a classic evenly-spaced look. Wider gaps of 150–200mm create a more open, contemporary feel. You can also install battens flush together for a fully covered surface.
Can I cut the battens to length?
Yes. XPS cuts cleanly with a fine-tooth hand saw or a sharp craft knife. A mitre box helps achieve accurate 45° corner cuts.
What adhesive should I use?
Use solvent-free grab adhesive only — brands such as Gripfill, No More Nails (solvent-free version) or similar. Never use solvent-based contact adhesive or superglue as these dissolve XPS.
How do I paint the battens?
Any water-based emulsion paint can be applied directly to the surface — no primer required. A small roller or brush both work well. Two coats give the best finish.
